Catching Up on Falling Behind
Days 090, 091 #100DaysOfCode
Days 054, 055 #100DaysOfGameDev
Life has been crazy lately, but I have been trying to keep up with my game dev efforts. I have been putting in lots of hours at it, when I can, but unfortunately its pretty boring stuff these days. At least to the outside observer. To me, it’s all quite fascinating and entertaining.
I have been doing a lot of code work to try and get my power-up items and mode to work right. This has involved a lot of code-writing, code-fixing, code deleting, code-rewriting, and more code fixing. I finally conquered the hurdle of getting my bacon power-ups to not only appear in the game but also move the way I intended them too. That probably took an entire day to figure out and many rewrites.
After that, I started tackling the animation state of the Pig to reflect the powered-up state when he grabs a piece of bacon. After more struggles with the animation system in Unity, I finally figured out how to piece all the states together but can’t seem to get it all to work in the scripts. The best I have gotten so far is a brief flash of the animation I want to have play, but nothing lasting. I am chipping away at it hoping for a revelation that show me where I am going wrong.
Time is not my friend right now and my day job has me so busy that I have only been working on the game on weekends. This has slowed progress considerably but I haven’t given up. Stay tuned.
