I finished my Character Design Template and couldn’t be happier with the results! A huge shoutout to Slynyrd for making the pixel art guide available to his Patreon followers. This one exercise taught me so much about pixel art design in such a short time.

I set up my design template to keep my character designs within 64px, which is what I am planning to base my game on. Because the math works out the way it does with the “6 Heads” design principle, I have some leftover pixels on top I can utilize for hairstyles or headgear, so it’s actually quite perfect.

I can now move forward with any character design I need to do for my game and keep a consistent look and feel to my designs by utilizing proper figure proportions. I can always modify the template if I need something that differs from standard. Tools like this will aid me greatly going forward and should cut down design time significantly in the future.
