Going Isometric

Day 004 #PanicRoom
Day 068 #100DaysOfGameDev

I finally determined that I wasn’t liking my art assets for my 2D Tilemap because the whole perspective for the game was off. The top-down 2D look wasn’t doing it for me. What I really want is a 2.5D look and, after looking into it some more, I feel isometric is the way to go.

The biggest problem with this switch is, oh I don’t know, I’ve never designed anything isometric before! No worries. I found a guide online I could reference real quick and was soon off and running in Aseprite setting up my tile frames.

From there, it was just a matter of setting up all the basic shapes I wanted to start with and giving them a base coat. No need for textures yet (I learned that lesson already!).

I will pop them into Unity and start playing around with them to see it they give me what I was going for.
