The quest to become an indie game developer

A Lot Can Happen in a Year

It has been almost a full year since my last activity, but I haven’t been sitting by idly.

My day job has been keeping me increasingly busy since taking over as manager a few years ago, and I have taken on a lot more responsibility. While I am making the best money I have ever made, my heart is in no way in it and I don’t get fired up for the amount of stress I have to put up with.

I set up this blog to reflect my true passion in life and I feel I have finally gotten to the point where it is time to actively pursue my dreams. With my family’s urging, I have enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program for Computer Science so I can earn the credentials I need to become a professional coder. Couple that with game development and I have a recipe for something that fires me up. I can code by day and pursue my gamedev aspirations in my free time as a solodev, because I really like the freedom that brings me and I am way too much of an independent artist to adhere to someone else’s rules.

In my pursuit of my Computer Science degree I have already completed my first Java class and have already picked up a lot more skills as a result. Knowing Java makes me more flexible and it has already helped raise my C# game by reinforcing development fundamentals.

Enrolling in college and taking classes has reignited my creative juices and I have a new game idea that I will share in later posts once I have a chance to explore it a little. Stay tuned!
